About ʻAnaehoʻomalu Beach
This gently sloping sandy cove on Hawaii's Kona coast offers exceptionally calm, clear waters protected by a natural reef, making it ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and beginner-friendly diving year-round. The beach fronts historic fishponds and lava rock formations with views of Mauna Kea, drawing a mix of resort guests and locals who appreciate its reliable conditions and relatively uncrowded atmosphere compared to nearby tourist beaches. The shallow reef ecosystem teems with native fish species, sea turtles, and coral, while the dark volcanic sand and backdrop of kiawe trees create a distinctly raw Hawaiian setting.

Beautiful beach. Walk south from where people are laying out, you'll get to some coves that are full of turtles. We saw around 10 per day swimming, drying, etc. You can even swim / snorkel with them, just obviously keep your distance. Amazing gem of a beach.
Gorgeous beach on the west coast of Big Island, with crystal clear water and many sightings of turtles. It’s easy to see turtles swimming and floating calmly near the shore. The waves are low, there is a shower and changing rooms and it’s a perfect place for families.
A small beach with palm trees and rocks, with a public restroom on site. There is free parking nearby. For swimming, I recommend bringing water shoes.
Not the biggest but still a very pretty and unique beach with calm waters & no big waves. Beautiful sunset scenery, especially if you walk on the path behind the fish pond & see the reflection in it, surrounded by palm trees. Toilets available and an easy walking path too.
It’s called A-Bays if you are from the mainland and stupid like me. It was beautiful! I married my best friend here and went to lava lava next door for drinks.
