About Boneyard Beach
Boneyard Beach, located on Jacksonville's Timucuan Preserve, is renowned for its dramatic landscape of bleached driftwood and skeletal tree remains jutting from the sand and shallow water, creating an otherworldly aesthetic that draws photographers and nature enthusiasts. The calm, protected waters of the tidal marsh make it ideal for kayaking and peaceful paddling rather than swimming, while the surrounding maritime hammock provides excellent opportunities for spotting wildlife like herons, egrets, and dolphins. The beach offers a quieter, more contemplative experience than Jacksonville's popular oceanfront spots, appealing to visitors seeking scenic walks and natural history over crowded sunbathing areas.
Visitor Reviews
After last year Jekyll Island visit , I want it to see more of driftwood on the beach . Itβs a hike to get there but very nice walk. I definitely like different things to see than usual.π οΏΌ
One of our favorite places to visit when in town. It's off the beaten path and way less touristy. The whole family has fun walking the mile trail and then exploring the "boneyard."
Take a 10 minute walk on a wooded trail to arrive at the stunning beach. Remnants of old trees line the seashore. If you walk west youβll end up at the inlet if you walk to the east this will take you along a long stretch of shoreline. There is a small fee for parking.
This is a great location to visit along the bike trail. We parked our cars at Sawpit Creek boat ramp and biked the boardwalk, past Spoonville pond and into this parking area where we locked up our bikes. Then we walked down a wooded dirt trail to the beach. This is a very interesting landscape and definitely worth the visit.
Such a beautiful place off the beaten path. The graffiti walkway to the beach was really cool. The beach itself was so cool and amazing view. Definitely check this place out if youβre in the area. Just no swimming allowed.
