About Burkes Beach
Burkes Beach is a quieter, family-friendly stretch on Hilton Head's southern tip known for its calm, shallow waters that make it ideal for young children and beginner swimmers. The beach offers excellent shelling opportunities and views of Calibogue Sound, with a more relaxed, local atmosphere than the island's busier oceanfront beaches. Its proximity to nearby nature preserves and maritime forests provides easy access to kayaking, birding, and low-key coastal exploration.

Nice, quiet local beach. Parking was free through may 18th. The weekend cost will then be $20 for the day. There is a long sand mat to get to the beach. They have chairs and community beach toys as well. You can have pets on the beach but need to keep them on a leash. No alcohol or glass is allowed on the beach. There is a trash and recycle can to the left when u walk on the beach as well as baskets to pick up trash.
Excellent beach. Nice parking and drop off area (with clean restrooms). Beach was narrow due to the coastal storms and tide.
Beautiful beach, much quieter than the main beach at the city center.
This place is a gem! We got there very early to avoid crowds and it was incredible. The weather was perfect, the beach was clean and easy to get to. Parking was easy and not too far from the sand. There are even some trails along the beach but we didnโt have the chance to check them out. Iโd recommend going between 8 am and 11 am to get the best parking and swim time.
Great beach for families! It wasnโt in the least bit crowded. Beautiful walk through the sand leading up to the beach. Very convenient and free to arming just a quarter or a mile away from the beach. Convenient trash bins every so often.
