About Cabrillo Beach
Cabrillo Beach, located at the end of the San Pedro Peninsula, offers unusually calm, protected waters ideal for swimming and beginner water sports, sheltered by the breakwater that creates a natural harbor. The beach provides stunning views of the Los Angeles Harbor, passing ships, and the Long Beach skyline, with easy access to the nearby Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and coastal hiking trails. Its laid-back, local vibe attracts families and casual beachgoers rather than crowds, making it feel more authentic than the busier LA beaches to the north.

A beach with an aquarium and tide pool! Itβs a decent area to explore. If you like sea life, the tide pool area is recommended to go. As of now, parking is $1 per hour.
Love it here. Great place to camp out for a weekend.
I so amazingly loved this place! When the beach would allow more swimming time length it has nice recreational bench picnic areas good tree shade nice cool happy leisure relaxation and yes was being well supervised clean and good for biking.
Cabrillo Beach is a hidden gem in San Pedro β perfect for a laid-back day by the water. The tide pools are fun to explore, the breeze off the Pacific is refreshing, and the views of the harbor and ocean are beautiful. Itβs not your typical sandy beach for swimming, but great for walking, picnicking, or just soaking in the coastal vibe.
Nearby free parking in the neighborhood (I parked near the Top Gun: Maverick Penny's house). Or park at the beach for cheap ($1/hr). Swings and picnic tables on the sand are nice amenities. The long breakwater to the lighthouse keeps the water really calm.
