About Capitola Beach
Capitola Beach is a sheltered cove with calm, clear waters ideal for swimming and beginner surfers, backed by the quirky charm of the village's colorful Victorian buildings and sea caves accessible at low tide. The beach attracts a relaxed, artistic crowd drawn to its bohemian atmosphere, vintage shops, and seafood restaurants lining the waterfront. The protected bay and sandy bottom make it one of the safest and most family-friendly beaches on the Central Coast, while the dramatic sandstone cliffs provide excellent opportunities for photography and exploration.
Visitor Reviews
Great place to visit. Lots of casual outdoor eating venues, a small but nice old town with charming shops, and a nice beach to walk or lounge on. Shadowbrook restaurant is really special. You take a small tram down to the restaurant, which is above the river. Beautiful gardens, trees, and redwoods adorn the property. Business casual on the patio or bar area, and a bit dressier in the dining room (reservation needed for dining room). We ate on the patio, and it was really peaceful and beautiful. Food is exceptional.
Beautiful quaint little town. Gives a very relaxing vibes. Though the beach does not feel very clean.. flies everywhere on the sand and big flocks of birds ( and poops) all around
Beautiful beach with great views, but there were a lot of trees and debris around the beach area. Still a nice place to visit.
Very nice small town. Not a lots traffic like Monterey. Feel more relaxing
Strange smell, difficult to find decent parking and the beach was mid! The houses are fun to see but thereβs much better beaches in the area. The shops nearby are nice to walk through, just hold your breath!
