About Charley Young Beach
Charley Young Beach in Kihei offers exceptionally calm, clear waters protected by a reef break, making it ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and beginner surfers. The sandy cove is backed by low-key residential areas rather than resorts, giving it a quieter, more local feel than nearby tourist beaches, with good visibility for spotting sea turtles and tropical fish in the shallow nearshore waters. The beach is relatively small and can get crowded during peak hours, but its reliable conditions and accessible snorkeling make it a favorite for families and those seeking a less commercialized Maui beach experience.

Beautiful, and secluded. Great beach near attractions if you need to do some shopping or get a bite to eat.
Nice beach with lifeguards, restroom and grocer store across the street. The water gets less clear closer to 11.00am. Itβs a lot of turtles swimming near the rocks to the left.
In June of 1966 I had the vacation of my life for a month in Kihei. My Aunt was friends with Betty and Charlie Young. I spent countless hours on this beach and at their house. I was thrown a surprise 14th birthday party by Betty, their Daughter, Diana Young Solomon, neighbors and friends ( the Freitas girls). My bucket list has what is now Charley Young Beach as a place I want to see again. I'm sure that changes and development will make my memories unrecognizable. It was heaven on Earth β₯ I now 73 yrs old π
Good for swimming. Relaxed beach vibe. Outdoor showers to wash up before you leave. Perfect to sit and watch the sunset with a glass of wine too. Small rocky areas for kids to climb on.
