About Chuns Reef Beach
Chuns Reef is a premier winter surf spot on Oahu's North Shore known for its consistent, powerful swells and reef breaks that attract experienced surfers from November through February. The beach offers dramatic views of the rugged coastline with its rocky outcrops and golden sand, plus a more local, less crowded atmosphere than nearby Sunset Beach. The shallow reef and strong currents make it best suited for advanced swimmers and surfers, while the surrounding area provides good snorkeling opportunities during calmer summer months.

Chuns Reef Beach was the pretty cool beach to surf, but if you’re a beginner or first-time surfing at Chuns Reef Beach, be careful of lava rocks. Waves are fantastic, depending on the weather, but I had good waves to surf. Besides lava rocks, I think Chuns Reed Beach was a beautiful place to surf. And you will see many surfers are surfing at this beach as well.
We had a great time here. One side of the beach was for swimming and snorkeling, the other side was for surfing. It made for a great Sunday post-church activity. Until some dude named Limmy showed up. Was he the devil? Someone needs to get an exorcist up in here. No, but the beach is great. I totally recommend.
Beautiful spot for snorkeling. Just a handful of people so it felt like we had the beach to ourselves, which we definitely loved! Parked directly across the street so we literally crossed the street to the beach. Felt like paradise!
I love this beach. It never gets crowded (on the sand). It has a great right riding for surfers. Watch out for the reefs.
Top 3 beaches in Oahu. Hidden gem, found it by accident. Water is as beautiful as Lanikai, just much less people around. Parking is scarce and it’s easy to miss but once you are there, it’s another paradise.
