About Coronado Beach

Coronado Beach is renowned for its wide, pristine sand and consistently calm, clear waters protected by the nearby Silver Strand, making it ideal for swimming and beginner surfers. The iconic Hotel del Coronado anchors the shoreline with its distinctive red-roofed Victorian architecture, while the beach's relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and excellent conditions for beach volleyball and paddleboarding attract both locals and visitors seeking a more sheltered alternative to San Diego's open-ocean breaks.

Beautiful and clean beach with soft sand and amazing ocean views. It has convenient showers and restrooms, which is great after swimming. Good place to relax and watch the sunset.

Not a quiet beach! A very detailed review of what to expect. This is not the place you want to come if you are looking for a quiet place to sit and read a book. Instead, it is bustling and fun and loud and boasts a world-Class hotel across the street! Because of the hotel, there are lots of opportunities for food and cocktails and fresh clean bathrooms. It seems it’s totally fine to get a cocktail and stroll around on the beach. Either there are no open alcohol restrictions or everybody’s completely ignoring them. Because the hotel resort complex is so high-end, there are also opportunities for: 1. bonfires on the beach (you pay for seating and firewood, and there are places to dispose of your hot coals). 2. S’more packages that you buy from a vendor as well 3. Popsicle and other vendors 4. Private Seating for your group in the plastic igloos (again extra charge) So the entire atmosphere feels festive and fun! We went in December, and the water was certainly swimmable, if not a bit chilly. Not a big beach for finding shells. Although there are some. This feels like a real family beach, and not a big party beach, even though people were walking around with open containers! The waves are not surfable. I suppose some people could try, but this is not a good surfing spot. The beach is very wide, so if you want to play football or throw a frisbee, it’s an excellent beach for that. I imagine in the summer that it is really quite packed! Even when we were there in December, it was quite packed. Please note we were there on a festive holiday weekend, and the hotel-resort was really showing off its splendor.

Beautiful beach that stretches pretty long. Visited in September and found it to be a beautiful spot to enjoy a sunny day. Wasn't overly crowded at all, and although I understand there are issues with Tijuana discharging waste towards the U.S., the water seemed clean. Watch the seagulls. They try getting in to people bags on the beach. They seem to have gotten pretty good at it

Beautiful long beach, which keeps it from feeling too busy, and one of the best spots close to town to enjoy the ocean. Great view of the Hotel del Coronado too!
