About Crissy Field East Beach

Crissy Field East Beach offers calm, protected waters ideal for swimming and windsurfing, with the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands framing the northern horizon while the San Francisco skyline rises to the south. The wide sandy beach sits within the Presidio's 1,491-acre park, creating a surprisingly secluded atmosphere despite proximity to the city, and draws a mix of families, fitness enthusiasts, and water sports enthusiasts who appreciate the reliable afternoon winds and minimal waves. The restored tidal marsh and native dune habitat surrounding the beach add ecological significance to what was once a military parade ground, making it one of San Francisco's most transformed and vibrant public spaces.

Crissy Field East Beach is one of the best spots in San Francisco to relax and enjoy incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The scenery is absolutely stunning β€” you get the bridge on one side, Alcatraz in the distance, and the bay stretching out in front of you. It’s especially beautiful on a clear day. The walking and biking paths along the water are well maintained and perfect for a peaceful stroll or a morning jog. It’s also a great place for a picnic, and you’ll often see people flying kites, windsurfing, or just enjoying the beach with their dogs. The vibe is laid-back and family-friendly. Sunsets here are magical, with the sky lighting up behind the bridge. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, Crissy Field East Beach is a must-visit spot to truly experience the beauty of San Francisco’s waterfront. πŸŒ‰πŸŒŠ

Beautiful and vast beach. Enjoyable walks and swimming. Off leash dogs love it, expect packs and hordes of commercial dog walkers. Amazing views of Golden Gate Bridge. Parking never a problem and extra space on the lawns where some campers seem to live from the time the gates open at 7am to the time they close at 10pm. Outdoor rinse showers for people and dogs. Crowded with kite surfers when windy.

this is the best viewing of the Golden Gate Bridge in my opinion. i paid 2 dollars for parking next to the Quartermaster Reach and spent my time walking the beach and the other paths. there are changing rooms with toilets and porta potties. i wish they were cleaner but they make do. you can see Alcatraz from here too

I drove for nearly two hours to see the golden gate bridge and then arrived to find it covered in fog. It could have been a magnificient place but I didn't check the weather . My advice is you have to check the weather there before going and checking if the sky is clear or not. Also you gotta bring jackets and blanket cause it was very cold at the shore even in August. The place has restrooms , barbeque grill and lots of parking spots. It will be a great venue if you went there while being prepared
