About Cupsoque Beach
Cupsogue Beach, located at Fire Island's western tip, is known for its powerful Atlantic swells and strong currents that attract experienced surfers and bodyboarders seeking challenging conditions. The wide sandy beach backed by vegetated dunes offers a more rugged, windswept character than Fire Island's eastern communities, with fewer crowds and a quieter atmosphere that appeals to those seeking solitude or serious water sports. The beach's exposure to open ocean swells and its proximity to the Fire Island Inlet create dynamic conditions that shift dramatically with weather and tide, making it a destination for enthusiasts rather than casual swimmers.
Visitor Reviews
A nice, accessible family beach for non-county residents. So if youβre visiting and your hotel doesnβt have beach access, this is a good option. Parking for non card holders was $18 and there was no charge to get on the beach. Showers and bathrooms were adequate and there was snack bar & gift shop. The beach got crowded quickly (we went on a Tuesday in July), so if you like sitting at the waterβs edge, get there early. Access is via Dune Road with a strict speed limit and lots of police on patrol.
Yeah, itβd be nice if they finally finished the job instead of people going on the boardwalk and doing a major trip in fall like I did ainβt got nothing for it because of a letter nobody writes letters anymore. Do you understand that and I got disabled for life and new people donβt even care you gave me nothing for my circumstances hurting in pain to operations later. I might need another one because you let people on a boardwalk that was dangerous an inch high piece of wood that I fell on. Itβs not right. Donβt tell me nobodyβs ever fell on that 50 year-old boardwalk because they have and Iβll show you pictures for it.
Always a great beach but today all closed up boardwalk construction going on. Had to hit a southhampton beach. Would of been nice if the county gave a heads up. We'll see if.there are any improvements next year.
Beautiful even in the winter. Dogs are allowed in off-season
Love the beach, seals are out.
