About Currituck Beach
Currituck Beach offers calm, shallow waters ideal for families and beginner swimmers, backed by the historic Currituck Beach Lighthouse and windswept dunes that give the northern Outer Banks a quieter, less-developed feel than beaches farther south. The beach is known for excellent shelling, wild horse spotting in the adjacent dunes, and a laid-back atmosphere that attracts visitors seeking solitude rather than crowds. Fishing, kayaking in the sound waters, and exploring the nearby Whalehead Historic Preserve round out the outdoor recreation options in this remote barrier island community.

Love to see wild horses. Super excited when You found them . You need to book the Corolla wild horses tour they drive you around sand dunes and beach to looking for ππ
We were on the beach 4 different days during our week vacation in the OBX. We drove our Jeep down, for the permit and had a blast. Being able to see the famous Corolla Wild horses was the highlight of our trip. There are just over 100 horses left but we saw several foals which h is great to see. Donβt be stupid by taking a vehicle that doesnβt have a transfer case with real 4x4 capabilities. We saw many people needing to get towed at a cost of $300+! Yes there are many capable vehicles just know your and your vehicles limits. There were many dolphins off the cost that we got to see as well. The beach stretches 23 miles all the way to the VA border. The further you drive the less crowded. There are also houses to the west you can drive through. There is nothing paved, it is all sand. Well worth the trip. We will be making this an annual vacation for us.
Must have a four wheel drive to visit this beach and must air down your tires before driving onto the beach. No roads, no gas stations, no stores. But all this is what is attractive about Currituck Beach. (Carova) Not as populated. We've visited in both prime and off season. Off season is definitely a bit slower on the northern beaches. Schools are back in. And if that's not enough of a draw, add in wild horses!
Had loads of fun driving on the beach and exploring streets in the town searching for wild horses.
We had an amazing trip to see the wild horses.
