About Double Bluff Beach and Off Leash Area
Double Bluff Beach on Whidbey Island offers dramatic coastal scenery dominated by a striking 150-foot sandstone bluff that rises sharply from the shoreline, creating one of the island's most visually distinctive landscapes. The beach features an off-leash dog area where dogs can run freely along the sand and in the shallow waters, making it a popular destination for pet owners seeking an alternative to restricted beaches in the region. Tidal flats and protected waters provide calm conditions ideal for wading and exploring marine life, while the bluff itself attracts hikers and photographers drawn to the geological formations and expansive water views across Puget Sound.
Visitor Reviews
The beach has a beautiful wide-open view, but the water doesnβt look very clean. Seaweed tends to collect along the shore, leaving foam and a bit of smell. One nice feature is the shower station near the entrance, which makes it easy to rinse off after playing on the beach but the latch on the entrance gate to the dog beach is broken and doesnβt lock. It looks like it needs to be fixed.
Huge beautiful off leash DOG beach. The waterβs salty remember! 12 minute ferry ride thatβs breathtaking and a short drive on 2 lane road through the island gets you there. Parking is off street not easy worth it. Port o podded and a showering station . ( salt water) Bring your fur babies a blanket and have a terrific day. Go home before 5 as ferry gets busy.
Gorgeous beach with wide open space for both people and pups! Our dog had the time of her life sprinting along the sand and splashing in the water. Great views, clean, and very dog-friendly. Could have stayed there all day. It was tricky getting iver the driftwood and I may have missed where to go in. But being disabled, this was a challenge.
Awesome beach! Weβve been here / stayed close 3 times now. Our family loves the exploring.
Great place to take a long walk on the beach. Lots of dogs to meet and greet. Not a bunch of parking. Bathrooms and water fountains are available. The drift wood though, wow! Watch your ankles.
