About Haleiwa Alii Beach
Haleiwa Alii Beach is a sheltered sandy cove protected by a breakwater, making it one of Oahu's calmest swimming spots even during winter swells that pummel the North Shore's famous surf breaks. The beach attracts families and casual swimmers rather than surfers, offering clear shallow waters ideal for snorkeling along the reef and spotting reef fish, while the tree-lined shore provides natural shade. Its local, low-key atmosphere and reliable conditions make it a quieter alternative to the crowded nearby beaches like Sunset and Pipeline.

This beach never disappoints. The coral is sharp, water sandals are helpful. A great spot to watch people surf - swimming in the winter could be a little rough so enter with caution. Sunrise and sunsets are beautiful, you may find a few shells!
HaleΚ»iwa Beach Park was beautiful, but it was so windy when we visited that we couldnβt really swim or do much in the water. The view was still really nice, and we were lucky enough to see turtles swimming nearby, which made the stop worth it. Good place to check out, just keep the weather in mind.
Sea turtles! We saw sea turtles in the summer, and swam near them! Some people were snorkeling, but it's a little rougher swimming here. Not too bad, though- there is a few feet drop off quickly after you get in the water. People had tube floats and boogie boards. There was a lifeguard station there, and warnings about rough water but if you're not to deep, some waves will knock you down, but it was fairly calm when we went. It is a bit of a workout to balance on the edge of the soft sand, but worth it to see the sea turtles. (If you want calm water, there is a cove little North of here with shallow water, which also has turtles and is great for snorkeling.) Park near the public rest room/changing room, and the beach is right next to it, and is away from the rocks. Very soft, very hot sand, so wear your sandals back to the bathrooms and then rinse off.
Was told by a couple of locals this is a great place to spot turtles and it did not disappoint!! Saw maybe 10 or more popping their little heads up and down in the water and managed to snorkel with 5 or so close to shore! Even got super lucky and one came up onto the shore to bask for a few minutes. Incredible!! Arrived just before noon and they were super active then. Quietened down a bit closer to 1pm but they were still around. Quiet beach with parking and restrooms.
Great little North Shore beach for family get togethers, events and surfing. The sand is very clean, but the tide is very strong here, so it's mostly a surfer's beach. There's a lifeguard station here as well as bathrooms and changing rooms.
