About Kalmas Park Beach
Kalmus Park Beach is a shallow, warm-water beach on Nantucket Sound known for consistent winds that make it a premier destination for windsurfing and kiteboarding. The gradual sandy bottom and protected bay waters create ideal conditions for these water sports, while the beach itself offers a more casual, activity-focused atmosphere compared to the more family-oriented beaches nearby. With views across the sound and a laid-back vibe centered around its windsurfing culture, Kalmus attracts a younger, more athletic crowd year-round.

This beach had soft sand. It has some rocks, shells and is warm water. I am a beach addict and this was a good spot to go. Just to point out there is a swimming part of the beach and a non swimming part. I first jump in the non swimming part and got told by a life guard where to swim.
One of my most favorite beach's on the Mid Cape. I love to watch the boats come and go. they have great facilities. beach is well kept. I have walked this beach many times.
A nice enough beach, but more rocks and seaweed than some others Iβve visited. There were a lot of water/wind sports happening, so I think itβs more suited for those activities, but maybe I just caught it on a particularly blustery evening. Still, a nice walk, and I was able to handle it in bare feet :)
Expensive $25 dollar entry fee, but if they lowered the price to $15 I'd argue it's worth it if you like seeing wildlife or collecting shells. This beach had by far the most shells of any beach we visited up and down the cape - mostly slipper snail but plenty of scallops, whelks, quahogs, and the occasional shark's eyes. The beach does have a lot of seaweed, but this is because it has a natural grassbed right off shore filled with crabs, horseshoe crabs, and live mollusks, which I suppose is not for everyone but is enjoyable in its own right; I enjoyed finding a large whelk mid-meal and watching the barnacle-encrusted horseshoe crab scuttle between grassbeds. There was a lot of litter further up the dunes and around the parking lot - thankfully not near the water line, but for $25 dollars they definitely owe it to guests to keep this place cleaner. Of note: there are actually two beaches here, since the park is on a small peninsula of its own - one on the ocean side and one on the bayside. The bayside has less seaweed and little to no waves; the oceanside has small waves, grassbeds, and more shells.
A clear insult to all Cape Cod beaches. Egregious $25 parking fee per day, even during a pandemic. More seaweed than sand. Almost stepped on a dirty used face mask on the beach so cleaning is clearly nonexistent. Sand was probably never raked. The limits of the swimming buoys is where you can still stand. Very rocky. Instead of reading on, save yourself the misery and avoid this beach.
