About Kanaha Beach
Kanaha Beach Park in Kahului is a premier spot for windsurfing and kiteboarding, with consistent trade winds and shallow, sandy waters that create ideal conditions for these sports, particularly from May through September. The beach offers a laid-back, local vibe with minimal crowds compared to Maui's resort beaches, featuring a long sandy shore backed by ironwood trees that provide natural shade. Beyond water sports, the calm lagoon makes it suitable for swimming and paddleboarding, while the adjacent wetland area attracts birdwatchers seeking native Hawaiian waterbirds.

If you need to kill some time before your flight, this is the best place to go. It's very close to the airport with lots of parking, has nice picnic benches where you can sit and watch the surfers. Definitely a nice way to spend your last few hours in Maui โค๏ธ
Windy but amazing blue water comfortable to get in. Nice sand and dozens of wind surfers and kite surfers to watch. No restrooms.
5* location 5* nature beauty #noaccessibility #nolifeguard It is a wilde style beach & kitesurfing spot, so dont expect any infrastructure here. There is only a long fabulous beach line, some rocks closer to the city and lots of huge turtles ๐ข in the water when you kitesurf, which is fantastic. Along the beach there are palms ๐ด, so you can hide your equipment & yourself from the sun. There are two parking lots: one is with asphalt for about 20 cars and another one closer to the city is quite spontaneous one along the road that leads to the beach and its totally sandy, under the trees in some parts, for about 10 cars. There is a lifeguard house on the beach, but i never saw anybody there ๐ค No currents here and no sharks, so no extra risque to stay in the waters. The windsurfers normally ride on the right side of the beach and farer from the land line, kitesurfers - on the left side, closer to the beach and the city.
My wife and I came to Kanaha Beach before turning in our rental car. It was early in the morning and the only people moving about were grounds people. The view across the bay is quite spectacular and the beach inviting to walk on. It's the first time I've been here and the wind was relatively calm.
Incredible beach. Too strong for baths
