About Kismet Beach Work
Kismet Beach Work offers consistently excellent conditions for surfing and bodyboarding, with reliable Atlantic swells and a gritty, unpretentious local vibe that attracts dedicated water sports enthusiasts rather than casual beachgoers. The narrow stretch of sand backed by modest beach houses creates an intimate, community-focused atmosphere where surfers of varying skill levels share waves in a relatively uncrowded setting compared to more famous Long Island breaks. The beach's working-class character and proximity to quality peak areas make it a favorite spot for those seeking authentic New York surfing away from resort-style beach crowds.

Itβs a good beach for walking and family outing near Manhattan. The while Fireisland is a long beach strip and you can stop wherever you feel like. There are ample food joints, quick 10 mins walk from the beach towards the city. Parking is available nearby for no cost.
Overall, an amazing experience for my first time to Fire Island... the waves are rough, but definitely enjoyable. Quiet little beach town... my only complaint was that there weren't enough signs to let you know where to go or what to do.
I would say it's the nicest beach in New York and worth getting out to. Be ready for a bit of a trek if you don't have a car. But the ferry is easy, just plan your trip around it. Sand was a little rough, but nice enough. Waves were mainly dumpers and the post break wash was short as hell as the tide was going out. So wasn't super relaxing in the water or super catchable in terms of waves.
Incredibly clean turquoissh waters for ny beaches. Nice and very relaxing.
Scenic. No bathrooms. Really for home dwellers.
