About Kona Dog Beach
Kona Dog Beach is a small, sheltered cove on the Kona coast where dogs can swim freely in calm, typically clear waters while their owners relax on the black sand shore backed by lava rock formations. The protected bay keeps conditions gentle year-round, making it ideal for dogs of all swimming abilities, and the local vibe is refreshingly low-key and dog-friendly compared to the busier resort beaches nearby. Snorkeling is possible in the shallow areas, and the volcanic landscape creates a dramatic, rugged backdrop that feels distinctly authentic to the Big Island's geological character.

Great little spot to swim and snorkel. Lots of variety and wasn't touristy, at least while we were there. I am hoping for time to go back.
Beautiful beach to relax or watch the sunset. Lots of lava rock. Good place to go diving
This is a DOG Beach, a beach for dogs to play with other dogs. If you are uncomfortable or have issues with excited dogs, dogs running around off leashes and swimming, or dogs coming up to meet and greet you, then go to a PEOPLE Beach. This Beach is for Dogs.
This is really pretty if you donβt mind the dog poop smell and flys all over
Great place to take the Dog to and get some energy out. Pretty shallow I took my puppy here to learn how to swim
