About Lighthouse Beach
Lighthouse Beach offers calm, protected waters ideal for swimming and paddling, thanks to its location along the Great South Bay where shallow sandbars create gentle conditions year-round. The beach's signature feature is its iconic red and white striped lighthouse, which provides a distinctive focal point and rich maritime history that attracts photographers and history enthusiasts. The laid-back, family-oriented atmosphere draws locals seeking a quieter alternative to ocean beaches, with nearby shops and restaurants adding to the casual waterfront appeal.
Visitor Reviews
Awesome views, parking not the greatest. It is a hike to the lighthouse.
We looked at each other and said βWow! This really feels and seems exactly like the Hamptons!β Fire Island is gorgeous! This was our first time visiting together, and we loved the white sand beach, the beautiful ocean, the lighthouse view behind us, and of course, the beautiful dunes. Long Island really is such a beautiful place! For more Long Island adventures and photos, check us out on Instagram @andiamoadventure
Great little walk to the lighthouse and then back via the beach. Quiet in the mo th of Sept and early oct whe. The weather is still somewhat nice.
Love the beach! Quiet and gorgeous. Drove hours to the end of Fire Island, vacation modeπ
Very nice beach. You need to walk about half mile to a mile to access the light house area. Watch βοΈ look π out for ticks. Ticks are everywhere. Rought dirt road with wood board walks. Beach access is not handicapped friendly. Area is topless beach.
