About Lobsterville Beach

Lobsterville Beach on Martha's Vineyard offers a scenic rocky and pebbly coastline with dramatic views of the Atlantic Ocean, making it a favorite spot for visitors seeking a more rugged New England beach experience. The beach is known for its pristine conditions and strong surf, attracting surfers and adventurous swimmers throughout the year, while its remote location on the island's western end provides a quieter, less crowded atmosphere. Locals and tourists alike cherish this spot for its natural beauty, excellent tide pools for exploration, and the sense of authentic island character that defines the Vineyard's coastal charm.

Nice quiet sandy beach and shallow water. Calm water ideal for stand up paddle or kayak. Parking next to beach. Some spots are reserved for locals and others are public.

Quieter, β€œoff the beaten path” beach on the island where the dogs can play all day. We got on the island at 7am and needed a place to kill time prior to our rents being ready. Lobsterville beach was a great find! It was quite rocky in the water and parking is limited. There’s only about eight or so spots for non residents. You definitely want to arrive early to get a spot. Otherwise, calm beach with no restrictions for the pups.

Beautiful beach with great views of the Vineyard Sound and Elizabeth Islands. Calm water and lots of shoreline to walk. Great swimming for dogs and kids. Parking spaces are limited and fill up fast, so head out early if you are planning a beach day in the summer. Bring water shoes if you plan to swim (some parts have lots of rocks and shells) and bug repellant for biting flies (especially during July)!

This is a beautiful stretch of beach that is virtually private because there are so few parking spots! There is Lobsterville parking and if you drive out to the end of the beach there is another lot for "West Basin" that has an additional couple spots. Strongly recommend but all luck if you get a spot or not (unless you go early enough)

Remember the lazy days with my love Jim, him under the umbrella napping, me in the water, which gets deep quickly, is always great for swimming & no cliffs to climb. The perfect beach for quiet lazy days full of sunshine, birdsong, salt tang & gulls crying. Plus, sunsets to die for. No crowds, no smoking, easy access (especially if you're reliant on a assistive walker). Plus, after a day of sun, beach & napping, a short drive to Larsen's.
