About Makena Cove
Makena Cove offers some of Maui's clearest and calmest waters, making it ideal for snorkeling among vibrant coral reefs and tropical fish just offshore. The crescent-shaped beach is backed by volcanic cliffs and remains relatively secluded compared to nearby Wailea beaches, attracting a mix of snorkelers, swimmers, and those seeking a more peaceful coastal experience. The golden sand and protected bay create excellent conditions year-round, though summer months bring the gentlest seas.

Great little cove with easy access from the road. Google perfectly brings you right by the little alleyway that opens onto the beach. A few little rocks to step down and then youβre in tide pool Heaven.
Beautiful hidden gem. Would love to take a chair and hang out there for hours.
This is a public beach cove accessible to anybody. You can reach it by a marked cross walk in the road that leads to a gap in a stone fence. You can't see the cove from the road, but it's only 100 feet from the road. Parking is on the side of the road and free. Expect people around sunset. You might even find photographers. It's great for easy fun swimming in the waves that crash through the rocks. You can also jump off the cliffs thanks to the water being so deep.
I'll make this quick and simple because you shouldn't spend your time on your phone reading lengthy reviews ππ€πΌ let me save you time. This place is also called Secret Beach because it's kind of hidden and small.β Parking is very limited. βΌοΈ Park on the side of the road. Be mindful of the parking limitations/instructions to avoid getting a citation. You will see cars on the roadside; park there if you see a parking space. β Visit in the morning β it's so relaxing and peaceful. Also visit for the sunset β it's beautiful π My wife and I did both π see pictures and videos. π― If you're lucky, you'll spot sea turtles π’π€© Not too busy. Good for relaxing only. I wouldn't recommend swimming. βΌοΈ No rinse β but it's worth it. β If you like to walk over the rocks, be sure to bring water shoes. Also be very careful. It can be slippery. βΌοΈ If you have any questions, feel free to follow me here. Enjoy! ππ€πΌ Mahalo!
