About Menemsha Public Beach
Menemsha Public Beach is a working fishing village beach where visitors share the sandy shoreline with active fishing boats, creating an authentic Martha's Vineyard atmosphere you won't find at more polished beach destinations. The calm, shallow waters of Menemsha Pond make it ideal for swimming and wading, while the picturesque harbor views and nearby fish markets and casual restaurants give it a distinctly local, unpretentious character. It's popular with families seeking quieter waters and photographers drawn to the scenic working waterfront, though the limited parking and narrow road can mean crowds on peak summer days.
Visitor Reviews
This is a great place to watch the sunset. Grab a bite to eat at one of the fresh fish markets a few feet away from the beach, and eat on the beach. Parking is very limited but there is some street parking but will require you to walk a bit. Great place foe families and there is also a place to fish. There arw some large rocks near the shoreline so be careful. Unfortunately a marine layer rolled in about an hour before sunset so we weren't able to see the sunset, but we still had a great time eating lobster on the beach.
Small beautiful beach, but the place where the bus stop smells so bad
great spot to watch the sunset! make sure to grab some delicious food at the fish market βΊοΈ
How lovely the sunset is in this beach. However, you may need to take the shuttle for parking and itβs very far.
Such a nice spot for a family beach day and sunset! Kids loved this beach and if you can find parking you will also! Clean beach, clean restrooms, great seafood options too.
