About Mesa Lane Beach
Mesa Lane Beach offers consistent, quality waves that attract surfers year-round, particularly during winter swells when the break becomes one of Santa Barbara's premier surf destinations. The beach features dramatic coastal bluffs, tide pools teeming with sea stars and anemones, and a quieter, more local atmosphere compared to nearby Leadbetter Beach. Beyond surfing, the sheltered cove provides calm swimming conditions during summer months and excellent opportunities for beachcombing along its rocky shoreline.

A very picturesque place with stunning views of the ocean and hills. Perfect for a peaceful walk, relaxing, and enjoying nature. Whether youβre looking for a quiet place to relax, take some photos, or simply connect with nature, this location has it all. Highly recommend visiting if youβre in Santa Barbara.
Conquered these steps June 2020. A fun activity anytime if the day. Highly trafficked. Steps are the best workout. 450 round trip, give or take. Flat landings every 25 steps. Steps. Plenty of photo ops. Steps lead to the beautiful beach. All ages and activity levels.
Beautiful beach, with many walkers and local pups enjoying the sunshine. A few surfers were riding the small ripples that came in this morning at low tide. There is NO handicap access or parking down the many, MANY stairs. General parking is in the neighborhood, near the the top of the cliff stairs.
This is a local's beach, and it is truly one of the finest strands in the entire world, (my favorite anyway) It is a semi remote and very beautiful and magical place. There's an unsurpassed view of the purple channel islands and the perfect bluegreen Pacific Ocean and pale blue sky above the turning waves of foam. Not bad, for perfect. With that said, this beach is a gem, and I don't want too many people to come visit so.... BEWARE... There are gigantic man-eating sabertooth bats that come out at night and steal people to feed their young. And of course the sea monsters are everywhere.
Fantastic beach! The steps leading down are very beautiful, and the beach isn't crowded at all. Be aware that at high tide, the water may completely cover the beach. We went at low tide and there was plenty of room and dry sand.
