Absolutely stunning hidden gem! Great Mackerel Beach is peaceful, clean, and surrounded by beautiful nature. The beach is perfect for swimming, kayaking, or just relaxing with a book — and since it’s only accessible by ferry or boat, it feels like a private escape from the city. The water is calm and clear, and there’s plenty of wildlife around (we even saw wallabies!). Great spot for a quiet day trip or weekend getaway. Just be sure to bring everything you need, as there are no shops nearby — which honestly adds to the charm.
Beautiful, long beach. A bit of a drive (1h from CBD by car on small roads), but, as a consequence, much less busy than many other beaches in Sydney. Great for taking our dog out for a stroll (dogs allowed on leash along the beach).
What a beautiful beach, with plenty of parking spaces and restrooms on both sides of the mountain. The beautiful water of the beach can be seen from the top of the mountain, which makes people linger. There are two roads to the mountain. The main road on the left is far but easy to climb. The small road on the right is a shortcut, but it will make you tired to death.
Beautiful beach picnic spot towards amazing hike over to the hill where Historical Barrenjoey light house is located, Must visit. And Palm Bech surrounded by cliffs is just amazing.
Beach is good and surroundings for family time. Adjacent golf club greens are awesome. Parking remains an issue during holidays. There are absence of food shops near to beach so plan accordingly. Good for family holidays.
