About Ocracoke Beach
Ocracoke Beach stretches along a narrow barrier island with calm, shallow waters ideal for swimming and wading, protected from rough Atlantic swells by the Outer Banks' geography. The beach offers a quieter, less commercialized atmosphere than nearby Nags Head, with wild horses occasionally appearing on the island's interior and excellent shelling along the shoreline. Visitors can enjoy kayaking in the sound-side waters, fishing from the pier, and exploring the historic Ocracoke Lighthouse, which anchors a village that feels frozen in a slower, more laid-back era of coastal North Carolina.

Miles and miles of ocean beach and dunes untouched by real estate developers and personal homes. One of the pictures I posted looks back over the dunes from a high point where you can barely see the town of Ocracoke set back in the distance. All the beautiful blues on the ocean and pristine white sand. Perfect for shelling, swimming and surf fishing.
Lovely lifeguarded beach w flush bathroom. No real signage on the main drag but Google gets you there or look for power lines across. You can bike here (pretty easy for adults on protected path)but no golf carts. Fly a kite down the beach a hair. πDon't set up tent/big umbrellas anywhere close to lifeguard stand (thanks safety!)
Beautiful Island, clean beach. Easy to get around! Wonderful lighthouse experience and the ferry is as awesome as can beπ
Lifeguards present and parking is easy. Great place to relax and unwind while enjoying the sound of surf. Pack a cooler, towels, and chairs and relax for a bit.
Beautiful beach with soft sand, life guards, lots of space to spread out. They had a nice boardwalk so my mom could join us with her cane. Lots of parking.
