About Seabright Beach

Seabright Beach stretches along a sheltered cove in Santa Cruz where the San Lorenzo River meets the Pacific, creating consistently calm waters ideal for swimming and beginner surfers compared to the more powerful breaks elsewhere on the coast. The beach is backed by the historic Seabright Neighborhood with its eclectic mix of cafes, shops, and the iconic Santa Cruz Wharf nearby, making it one of the more social and accessible beaches in the area. The combination of protected waters, sandy shores, and vibrant local culture gives Seabright a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere that draws both tourists and longtime residents.

Came across this beach while during a run along the coast in Santa Cruz: 1. Right by the harbor, stunning views. 2. Lots of people walking/running around the lighthouse area. 3. Lighthouse would be an amazing sunset view point I reckon. 4. Lots of free street parking around, and also there is harbor parking.

Very beautiful beach with plenty of fire pits. Some people are very careless about fire safety and cleaning up after themselves though.. but besides that my friends and I had a lovely time.

Seabright Beach always holds a special place in my heart as it’s our family’s comfort beach which we always go to for fun family outdoor events and a running place for my beloved puppy Butter. I like the fact that this beach is super close to the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History with the giant whale (in iron) in front and the Walton Lighthouse as well the Boardwalk is just walking distance. In fact, during low tide, though not recommended, you can cross under a cave and get right onto the Boardwalk :) There are decently clean public restrooms and trash bins here, which are a plus in my opinion. The sand is in earthy yellow tones and if you’re lucky, the sky looks amazingly. The waves are not too strong here either. Perfect spot for beach picnic or a simple stroll. There are so many dogs running around and everyone is so friendly. This beach is deep and spacious! There are spaces for everyone, even in the weekends. There are street parkings all around :) Love this beach and highly recommend!

I loved this beach, is way less crowded if you are coming from San Cruz Boardwalk and is summer, you have to cross a little creek in the beach, so just be careful, my recommendation is go until the light house and have fun =)

Located near the iconic Santa Cruz Pier, this sandy, wide beach features a picturesque lighthouse. The sounds of barking sea lions, chirping birds, and crashing waves create a lively coastal atmosphere. Leashed dogs are welcome, making it a great spot for pet owners. Parking is primarily free street parking, which can be challenging during peak times. We visited early in the morning, enjoying a peaceful stroll while admiring Santa Cruz's charming Victorian and Craftsman homes nearby.
