About Surfside Beach
Surfside Beach faces the Atlantic's open ocean swells on Nantucket's southern shore, making it the island's premier break for surfers and body surfers, particularly in fall and winter when nor'easters generate consistent waves. The wide sandy beach stretches for miles with calm, shallow waters closer to shore that appeal to swimmers and families, while the strong currents and deeper waters beyond the sandbar demand respect from experienced swimmers. The laid-back, youthful energy here contrasts with the more refined atmosphere of town beaches, drawing locals and visitors seeking an active, less formal scene with good food options and a genuine beach town feel.

Itβs a nice beach, but you canβt see full sunset. There is a food truck and the restrooms are close and clean
Great beach, food, and chair rentals. Plenty of parking. Keep an eye on the weather. The ocean can be rough if there's wind or a storm coming up the coast.
A south-facing beach with unusually warm water for Massachusetts and dunes, and nowhere near the traffic and hubbub. How could anyone give this beach anything other than five stars?
Beautiful beach; very quiet and clean, no crowd.
Great beach with big waves and a nice snack bar
