About Town Beach
Town Beach offers calm, shallow waters ideal for swimming and families, with the distinctive rocky Maine coastline framing views of the Porcupine Islands and Mount Desert Island's forested ridges. The beach is a hub of local activity, drawing residents and visitors who appreciate its proximity to downtown Bar Harbor's shops and restaurants without the crowds of more famous park beaches. The combination of accessible swimming, natural beauty, and walkable village charm makes it feel more like a genuine community gathering spot than a tourist destination.
Visitor Reviews
This vantage point offers breathtaking views of the harbor, the Mount Desert narrows, and the surrounding islands. The rocky shore adds a rugged charm to the scene, creating a picturesque setting perfect for relaxation and contemplation as you listen to the waves crash ashore. Particularly charming as the boats sail on by.
Beautiful park with lots of cool rocks to dig through! Beautiful at sunset aswell! I recommend taking a stop down here and walking down the landing pier!
Although small and Rocky plenty of people on it and swimming. They do have a nice path leading to it. All of the beach can be seen in panoram. And some of the path. Water was fairly clear.
Nice viewpoint of the bay. Lots of parking (and free) after 8pm in the nearby parking lot. Busy during the day. Worth the stop.
Beautiful views. Plenty of parking and lot Of good restaurants. Must visit place in Bar Harbor.
