About Tybee Beach point
Tybee Beach Point is known for its calm, sheltered waters ideal for swimming and paddleboarding, protected by the nearby Tybee Island Pier and natural sandbars that create a gradual slope into the Atlantic. The area attracts a mix of families, surfers catching smaller waves during swells, and anglers who fish from the pier, while the adjacent historic lighthouse and surrounding maritime heritage give the beach a nostalgic, locally-rooted atmosphere. The vibe tends toward laid-back and unpretentious compared to more developed beach spots, with plenty of casual seafood restaurants and beach bars within walking distance.

Great place with lots to do for every budget. Besides the Lighthouse there is a Marine Museum, the beach, the Battery as well as a restaurant with a bar. There is something here for children of all ages. You can walk around with your dog but they are not allowed on the beach.
Not too busy, warm water, and ample parking.
Small quiet town so that’s a great start! We parked near a lighthouse which we didn’t time to check out unfortunately but it really adds to the beach feel. All parking is paid which is a negative. Most the of the sand was nice but there were parts that were heavy with large seashell chips which made walking painful and cleaning off after the fact more difficult. Overall a wonderful beach that was great for kids! We will totally be back!
If you’re in the Savannah area definitely stop by for an Atlantic sunrise, just follow the signs for the lighthouse. Parking is free before 8:00am and there are ample spaces, plus you’ll have the whole beach to yourself. The beach is super clean and safe to walk barefoot, but bring a jacket in the morning, it’s chilly.
Lots of fun. Love the beach here. Makes a great weekend trip for beach and bars.
