About Waikīkī Beach Center

Waikīkī Beach Center offers consistently calm, warm waters ideal for beginner swimmers and families, protected by a natural reef break that keeps waves gentle in the main swimming area. The iconic crescent of golden sand backed by high-rise hotels and the distant Ko'olau mountains creates the postcard Honolulu experience, while the beach hub draws a cosmopolitan crowd of tourists and locals enjoying surfing at nearby breaks, outrigger canoe paddling, and beachside dining. The energetic, bustling atmosphere—with rental shops, concessions, and water sports vendors lining the shore—makes it the most accessible and activity-packed section of the larger Waikīkī Beach.

The water is shallow, so it is a good place to go with your family. However, when you go over the stone wall, there are stones on the floor, so I recommend you to play only inside the stone wall.

Clean, safe area for swimming and snorkelling. Stay near the shore if you cannot swim well, and enjoy basking in the beautiful sun. Can get busy if you want a good spot go early. Has volleyball nets (at least two) if you like to play in the sun!

We visited this world-famous beach when staying in Honolulu. We enjoyed a romantic sunset. As expected, it was very crowded.

One of the world's most famous beaches, no question about that. One of the most average beaches, also no questions about that. But, movies, shows and tons of hotels around in a concrete jungle by the sea made it world famous. It is a nice beach, but it's in fact a town beach, better say city beach. On Oahu only, there're for sure 6-7 much better beaches. It's also not that big, so it gets very crowded. We were in a hotel one block away, so we used it only for our morning swim and after that we explored the island in our rented car, sometimes coming back for sunset

I enjoyed this beach for kids! No life vests and I felt SAFE with my 5 & 8 year old near me. Our stuff was decently safe (not a ton of beach bums, but still a few). Swimming was fun! We swam in front of the barriers and enjoyed not having big waves push us every 2 seconds haha clean beach & water area (granted its the ocean... sooooo) watch the birds, they would have no issue stealing food haha
