About Waimea Bay Beach
Waimea Bay is famous for its dramatic seasonal transformation: winter swells create towering waves that attract elite big wave surfers, while summer months bring glassy, protected conditions ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The beach is framed by steep green cliffs and a lush valley, creating an intimate cove feeling despite its popularity. The North Shore's signature laid-back surf culture thrives here, with a mix of professional athletes, casual swimmers, and locals who respect the ocean's power and rhythms.

Awesome beach to chill or swim at. The shore break can get pretty big so I wouldnβt recommend unless you are an experienced swimmer. Jumping off the rocks is always a blast! Parking is a nightmareβvery limited so get there early or be prepared to circle the lot for up to 30 mins.
This beach is fantastic! Parking is easy but limited. There are showers near parking. The cliff jumping is an absolute blast and there are a few little sea caves a few feet beneath the water directly below the cliff. There was plenty of life in the water. The turtles were eating and drifting back and forth in the current and stayed with us for a long time.
Great spot for board & body surfing BUT swimmers must know what they are doing. Water not always good for kids or inexperienced people. Listen to lifeguards directions. Change/Bathroom facilities have been updated & park looks good.
Beautiful beach with limited parking and nice showers. Lots of lifeguards on duty as the current could get so beware!! Really there is no shade so bring an umbrella and chairs and the sand gets extremely hot and it's a very very wide beach and wide! The water is quite deep right away but it's very clear and clean.
Such a beautiful beach. The waves were incredible, we could get out of the water. If you are not the best swimmer, I would recommend being aware of where the tide breaks and just look at the flags. The bathroom was under renovation when I was at the beach, but there were showers available for use.
